After poring over the submissions this year (we received almost 100), the girls have finally decided on the FIVE FINALISTS for the 2nd Annual Naked Girls Reading Literary Honors.  Now these selections will be sent to our illustrious judges who will decide on this year’s winner.  The Literary Honors will be given away live in Chicago on November 18th after the girls read each of the five finalists’ submissions.  To read excerpts from each of the finalists’ works, click HERE.

So we decided there was no better way to celebrate our F-READ-om than by taking our clothes off and doing it live in front of an audience!

We’re celebrating our 2nd birthday and doing it the only way we know how…IN OUR BIRTHDAY SUITS!

That’s right, folks.  The literary salon that is literally sweeping the world started in Chicago two years ago.  Since then, we’ve branched out to numerous North American cities and are soon opening in London England and Melbourne Australia.  We’ve given away a Literary Honors of $500 for original writing and been recognized by independent publishers as a great force to encourage reading across the world.

So, what do we have in store for our 2nd anniversary?  Cake?  Yes.  Live Music?  Of course.  A Naked Girl Dance Party?  Why Not?  A yelling contest?  What?  Ok!

To celebrate the world’s most salacious and magical literary salon we’re taking it to the French Quarter where the careers of many literary greats took root.  From William Faulkner and Tennesse Williams to Anne Rice and John Kenney Toole, we’re getting all Naughty Gras – New Orleans style.  Top it off with a Nawlin’s tradition – the annual Streetcar Named Desire “STELLA!” Yelling contest, live French Quarter Jazz by the Fat Babies and the first ever Naked Girls Dance Party and you’ve got one helluva barn burner.

This one will go down in the books as one of the best nights the Naked Girls have ever thrown…and THAT’S sayin’ something!

Valentine’s Day can be a harsh reminder to some that love doesn’t always turn out like we want it to.  But remember, all the great love stories are tragic.  Whether it’s Romeo and Juliet or Ross and Rachel, I think we can all agree that love – when it’s done right – stinks.

We are launching our much anticipated Naked Girls Reading LITERARY PRIZE and we’re inviting “gut level” writers all over the globe to submit original writing for a chance to win our fan/reader-funded literary prize of at LEAST $500.  Not only that, but at our Naked Girls Reading HONORS event in November, an international array of Naked Girls will read selections from our finalists at the celebration.

Naked Girls Rock in Madison and Chicago – San Francisco Opens NGRSF – Seattle NGR Reads at Seattle Erotic Arts Festival

Get ready to rock in Madison (May 21) and Chicago (May 2) as Naked Girls Reading tackles the rock-n-roll lifestyle and all it’s debauchery.  And if you go to the Chicago event, you can challenge your favorite Naked Girl to a round of Naked Guitar Hero (see the video here)!

San Francisco will be the next city to open a Naked Girls Reading franchise on May 15th with a reading of The Wild Party at the Center for Sex and Culture.  Don’t miss Carol Queen, Dottie Lux, Isis Starr, Kimberlee Cline, Lady Monster and Ruby Vixen as they inaugurate the Bay Area with some nekkid readin’.  Sponsored by Last Gasp Books, Good Vibrations and the Center for Sex and Culture.

And as if THAT’s not all – the Seattle Erotic Arts Festival has asked Naked Girls Reading to do a two-night feature, April 30th and May 1st.  If you’re in the Pacific Northwest, make your way to those events and show your support for erotic art and beautifully unclad ladies who read.

OUR ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY!

This March marks the one year anniversary of the Naked Girls Reading movement across the globe.  What started in Chicago only a year ago has now spread to more than 10 cities in North America and continues to make its mark on the world.  Stay tuned for some great things to come in the next few weeks to inaugurate our second year of books and babes – including a big announcement to made very soon that will involve MANY of YOU!
